Gary Evans Sponsorship

After 3 fantastic years of sponsoring professional golfer Becky Brewerton, following Becky’s retirement from tournament golf, we are delighted to announce that TMD are sponsoring Legends Tour professional golfer, Gary Evans.

Gary won the English Strokeplay (Brabazon Trophy) and the 2nd ranked strokeplay event on the Amateur calendar, The Lytham Trophy in 1990 and 1991 (the only amateur to ever achieve this to this day).

Gary first turned professional in 1991 and despite suffering some significant wrist injuries early on in his career, he retained his playing rights until 2006 when injuries returned forcing retirement from professional golf. One of Gary’s highlights was just missing out on a play-off spot to win the Open Championship at Muirfield in 2002, shooting 65 (-6) , including an incredible 8 birdies in 10 holes, in the final round that included a lost ball on the penultimate hole, despite a huge crown looking.

Another early career highlight, but no so well publicised, is that Gary won the Sussex Teams School Championship in 1984 and the Vale de Lobo International Pairs competition in 1986 with our very own David Copsey!

Gary returned to competitive golf by joining the Legends Tour in 2019, the senior’s version of the main European Tour, playing around the world. The season kicked off this weekend in Marbella, Spain where he finished in joint 14th place, so a great start to the year.

We look forward to watching Gary’s season progress and from all at TMD, wish him all the very best.
