TMD was appointed as Designer, Project Manager and Contract Administrator for re-roofing a Statutory Listed GII building at the heart of Somerville College, Oxford.

The roof was weathered in Cotswold stone slates and the brief required a like for like replacement with locally sourced stone. TMD obtained listed building consent for the works before producing a specification of works, managing the tender process and working with the College to appoint a contract eight months before the works were due to start on site.

This early appointment not only enabled the contractor to properly consider the logistics of working in the centre of the college precincts but also select an appropriate local stone which was approved by the Conservation Officer and early material ordering.

TMD played a central role in administering the early ordering and auditing of materials before running the project on behalf of the client during the site phase. The project was procured under a JCT Minor Works contract and was completed to programme during the summer vacation of 2018.
